2015, Found wood from Orto de Pecci, pencil, cotton threads, twine, and copper wire, 11 1/2' by 19' by 10 1/2'
This piece came after the installation on Vicolo Degli Orefici, and was taken from its site into the studio. The project found new expression in this location. It draws upon the patterns from the installation on Vicolo Degli Orefici. The project started with the idea to draw the lines of thread, twine, and copper wire from the patterns both above and below me within Vicolo Degli Orefici, and to discover new architectural forms in their implications of space.
The combination of material that I chose to use within the context of the studio location was also important. The two perpendicular walls offered a bend, or depression in which the three – dimensional forms discovered these intersections. The wood, which was found with stains of white paint, and the bended sheets of white paper, discovered a transition from the two – dimensional planes into space.
